St Andrew

The Feast of my patron, St. Andrew the Apostle, is coming up on Friday. So in honor of this great day, I dug out a copy of a page from my baby book. In this book my Mother taped an article that looked like it came out of a newspaper or a religious magazine. Here is what it says:

To Andrew

For it was Andrew, first chosen disciple of Christ, who brought Peter to Jesus. Peter who was to become our first pope, the rock on which the Church was built.

It was Andrew who found and brought the little boy with the bread and fish to our Lord. He set up the occasion for the miracle of the loaves and the fish. The miracle that has a parallel in the Holy Eucharist. And it was Andrew who converted the Greeks. Thus spreading Christianity to a Gentile race. Here it was he died on his x-shaped cross, a martyr for his faith.

Oh, my little sleepy-headed Andy, I only hope you can partly imitate your name saint. Perhaps you will be called by Him to be one who will in a special priestly manner spread a love of the Holy Eucharist far and wide. Then "everyone will listen to Andrew."
